Overview

The Start-up Visa Program grants permanent residence to entrepreneurs whose business is supported by a designated venture capital fund, angel investor group or business incubator. Up to five founders can qualify on one business, and each needs a letter of support.

What you need

  • A qualifying business with the required ownership and voting structure
  • A letter of support from a designated organisation
  • CLB 5 in English or French across all four abilities
  • Sufficient settlement funds for your family size

How the process runs

  1. 1

    Build the venture

    Prepare a pitch deck, market validation and a Canadian incorporation plan.

  2. 2

    Secure designation

    Pitch designated incubators, angel groups or VC funds to obtain a letter of support.

  3. 3

    Optional work permit

    Apply for a temporary work permit to start operating while PR is processed.

  4. 4

    Apply for PR

    Submit the permanent residence application with the commitment certificate.
